Parent coaching is about giving you the tools, strategies, and confidence to support your child’s communication every single day. Instead of the SLP only working with your child for an hour a week (like in traditional therapy), we work with you to create a plan that fits your routines, your values, and your child’s unique way of learning.
This means progress doesn’t just happen in a clinic room— it happens at the dinner table, during play, at bedtime, and all throughout your family’s daily life.

Our coaching is designed to support parents and the child’s support team, rather than providing direct therapy to children. Most of the time, we’re working alongside you— giving you the tools, strategies, and confidence to support your child in everyday life. There may be times when we demonstrate strategies with your child present (for example, modeling how to introduce AAC or supporting a communication routine), but the focus is always on empowering you. This way, you feel equipped to carry things over long after our sessions end.

We don’t bill insurance directly. Insurance companies often decide if treatment is necessary, how long it can last, and what goals are “covered.” That can keep families from getting the support they really need.
By working together privately, we get to focus on your child’s unique needs— without an insurance policy dictating our plan. That means more flexibility, more creativity, and more meaningful progress.
Some families are able to submit our invoices for out-of-network reimbursement, and I’m happy to provide the paperwork you’d need if you’d like to try.
-
Many families also use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for our services. Because our work is provided by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, sessions are generally eligible expenses under these accounts. If you’d like to use HSA or FSA funds, you can pay directly with your card or submit our invoices for reimbursement through your plan.

Yes! For families in ongoing packages, email support is always included. That means if something comes up at home, you don’t have to wait until our next call— you can send us a note, and the SLP will get back to you (usually within 24–48 hours on weekdays). Quick check-in sessions or stand-alone consultations may not include ongoing email access, and we will always make that clear before we start.

We never want finances to be the only reason a family doesn’t get the support they need. We do offer flexible payment plans for packages and occasionally sliding scale spots. If this is something you’d like to talk about, please let us know. We want to find a way that works for your family.

Great question! Together we’ll set clear, realistic goals from the start. But just as importantly, you’ll notice changes in the everyday moments:
Your child showing new ways to communicate
Less frustration during routines and play
You feeling more confident in knowing how to support your child
Family life feeling calmer, more connected, and more joyful
Progress isn’t just measured in data points— it’s measured in those little breakthroughs at home that mean so much.

We know that family life can be unpredictable, and sometimes things come up at the last minute. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we just ask that you let us know at least 24 hours in advance so we can adjust the schedule and offer the time to another family.
If a session is canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if a session is missed without notice, the full session fee will still apply. We truly appreciate your understanding— keeping this policy in place helps us hold space for every family in a consistent and reliable way. That said, we completely understand that true emergencies happen— kids get sick, life throws curveballs, and sometimes it’s out of your control. In those situations, just let us know as soon as you can, and we'll adjust things in a way that makes sense for your family.

The majority of our sessions take place online over secure video, making it easy and convenient for your family no matter where you are. For families local to the Metro Detroit area, some coaching sessions may be available in person. If we meet in person, a travel fee will be added to cover the extra time and distance.

Coaching is a great fit if you want hands-on guidance for supporting your child’s communication in everyday life. Unlike traditional therapy, coaching focuses on empowering you as the parent— giving you tools, strategies, and confidence to make progress right at home.
Families who find coaching most helpful often:
Want clear, practical ways to support their child between or while waiting for therapy services
Feel unsure if the approaches they’ve tried are working, or want fresh ideas
Value a collaborative, family-centered approach where their insights and goals truly matter
If you’re looking for flexible, personalized support that meets your child where they are and you’d like to feel more confident in how to help them, coaching may be just right for your family.

Every family’s needs are unique, so there’s flexibility in how often we meet. Many families choose to meet once a week to keep momentum going, while others prefer every other week to allow more time to practice strategies at home.
I do recommend that sessions within a package are scheduled no more than 3–4 weeks apart. This helps keep the learning fresh, builds on progress, and ensures your child (and you!) don’t lose confidence or momentum between sessions.
To make things easier, we schedule all of the sessions in your package at the start. This way, you’ll have a clear plan in place, and we can prepare a customized home carryover plan that supports your family throughout that timeframe.
A general guide for pacing might look like this:
3-session package → usually used over 3–6 weeks
6-session package → usually used over 6–12 weeks
12-session package → usually used over 3–6 months
Together, we’ll find a rhythm that feels manageable for your family while still supporting steady progress.

There are so many wonderful tools and communities out there to help families feel supported on their journey. Here are a few trusted resources I recommend:
Gestalt Language Processing (GLPs):
Meaningful Speech – parent-friendly courses, handouts, and support for understanding and helping gestalt language processors.
Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) – information, research, and resources from the developers of the NLA framework.
AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication):
PrAACtical AAC – practical ideas, strategies, and real-world examples for families.
Alongside these resources, I’ll also share personalized recommendations and handouts during coaching, so you feel confident and supported every step of the way.
